Still "Simply Shelley"

Facebook

Laura Ingalls Wilder, standing on the porch of the house Almanzo built for her. Isn't it a beautiful house? I love the way Laura is dressed , the long flowing apron, and the flared sleeves of her dress.....so beautiful, yet with such simplicity. How I wish ladies still dressed in this modest fashion. I still prefer my long skirts as to any other form of dressing.  After my weight loss and being able to fit more fashionable styles, and I've tried them, I have found that I'm going right back to my long skirts. It's just the style I'm most comfortable with.  Of course , long dresses are fine as well, but I seem to like the skirts best! I think this style of dress keeps me humble, if you can get my meaning. Ive tried the more fancy things, even wearing pants which I had given up years ago, but I still don't feel myself in wearing such things. I guess I will always be "Simply Shelley" with my simple ways and simple style of dress  ;) Thats not to say there won't ever come an occasion for a more fashionable or a bit of fancy get up, but you can bet I won't be as comfortable as in my own style of dressing.....and that is to be certain!

  1. God bless You Dear Shelley.I do wear pants but only elastic polyester slip-ons ( old ladyish I know).I also wear long skirt's and long dresses but....also elastic polyester slip-ons ; ) just so comfy.last few Years I've been wearing chiffon blouses over cotton tee's, I love the flow. I really have to be careful which long dresses and skirts I wear because of how short and chubby I am.My legs are the shortest little things ever but You know I do like the looks of female hobbit's and dream of being one someday.....maybe in the new Earth...You know OUr Heavenly Father's SHIRE.

  3. I was just thinking about making some long skirts, and dresses, for myself. They probably won't be as long as I've worn them in the past because, with all the weight I've lost, I also appear to be much shorter as well. I'm not but I don't take up as much room, in a skirt, as I used to! LoL I would love for the old fashion modest dresses would come back in style...for that matter...everything could become old fashioned, once again, and I would be as happy as a clam!

Good to see your post! I miss reading about you and my beloved East Texas!

    Grace & Peace
