It's The Weekend..........again

The weekend has rolled around yet again oh so quickly, it seems to me anyway. Someone said, I can't remember actually who that  " The years are short, but the days are long " That stuck with me because it seems to be the case in every way these days.  I don't know if it is just how we see it as grownups, or if its reality, but as a child a year seemed as eternity to me. I can almost guess it was the same for you as a child as well. Its seems every stage of my life is so very different.  Once the weekend was a big deal. It was a time as a family we planned day trips and outings.  Maybe just going into town for household supplies and such. Stopping by a few yard/garage sales along the way, made for quite an enjoyable day out. Now days I rarely venture out at all . Church on Sunday and Wednesday, maybe a doctor's appointment, or such. There was a time when I was a flea market dealer. I carried my wares and set up at a couple of my favorite markets on two weekends a month. It wasn't always profitable, but it was always fun, and also a whole lot of hard work.

Do you know of the famous Canton Texas flea market?  I don't live but about 50 miles from it and used to visit there often, but I never set up there as a dealer. I just preferred the smaller markets for that. However, I loved going to this market. Its so large, I don't think I never made it through the whole entire thing in my life, and I've been going since I was a child.  My parents were dealers too.

Antique Alley...my favorite area. I've crossed this bridge multiple times.

  1. I live about 25 miles from Canton.I've been there a couple of times, but never all the way through it. I think that would take all week-end for me.
I prefer the smaller ones like in Quinlan.
It's been so cold and messy lately, all I do is buy groceries and come home.lol!

  2. Buried with snow here but dreaming of flea market days this summer! This winter has been so brutal with snow that staying cozy and optimistic is a full time job! Still, there is joy to be found. Shelley, cheering you on towards your goals! xxx

  4. My dear true friend Shelly : ) I have come to think of You over the years not just as a blogger " Friend " or as a FB friend but as a real friend that I want to stay close to.I still find We do have so much in common,as I read through several of Your posts.I'm sharing so many of the same thoughts and feelings in My own life.Since all is possible with and through Jesus.I'm going to start praying that You won't need those knee surgeries after all.Maybe Christ planned Your knee healing through the surg. You've already been through. I know I caught My knees just in time. I love the idea of Your new blog for Your new life. I can't wait to see photos of You, esp a year from now,but please don't wait that long to show Us.I have to start thinking about going to Church today-I hate missing Communion Sunday :) Hugs Denise
