What Goes Around...Comes Around
My style right now is Farmhouse, but I have been thinking a lot about when my home was a more cottage style. As of late I'm bringing a bit more of the cottage feel back into my home.
All of the pictures below are previous pictures of my style. Lots of color and very whimsical!
I don't think I will go completely with the fun cottage style again, but some "fun" cottage is definitely making a come back. I need some "perkiness" to cheer me on each day!
I guess I'm a bit eclectic, some of this and that! So what is your style for your home? Really, I have been thinking of not claiming any "style".......just going with what makes me feel happy and at peace.
My style....so to speak!
Thank you ladies for stopping by my cottage today......blessings, Shelley
Shelley, I don't know that I really have a style in decorating. I am an artist and old hippie, so mine is definitely eclectic...even bordering on eccentric! I've tried and failed miserably to have a style. Really, I have! But I always come back to what my daughter calls "The Village Crazy Lady meets Grandma's Attic fused with some Country Farm/Cottage". It's just me. No style, no rhyme, no reason. Just things I love whether it is a $1000 dollar painting or a cool stick I found while walking around our place or the lake. Do what you like and what makes you smile. That's what truly matters!

DeleteSounds like a "Pam" style to me...smile. Thank you for your comment Pam
DeleteShelly, my style is a kind of cleaned up farmhouse primitive. I love old stuff, but lots of clutter and over-filled rooms make me feel uneasy. I need to feel a sense of calm and peace in our home. Blessings!

I'm with you on the clutter business Carolyn. To much is to much for me. I need to breathe to...smile! So glad for your comment...thanks
DeleteNot sure what I would call my style. I know from old pictures it has changed over the years. Most all decorations and pictures are from thrift stores. We moved to this home seven years ago. I didn't hang any pictures from the old house. I had looked at them for years and wanted something new. A lot of things are gifts that friends have given me since we moved here. I like to surround myself with things I love. I have a mixture of mostly old and some new. Anything is always subject to change if I find something I like better.
ReplyDeleteHi Olivia, sounds like you are surrounded by things you love....the best kind of style. Bless you,and thanks for commenting.
DeleteMy place actually IS a cottage and I think it is pretty much what you might call "Shelley Style " ! lol ! It's tidy and clean but nice and homely for when the grandchildren come over , comfy chairs with patchwork quilt or old curtains thrown over so the dog can jump up and snuggle in next to us all on the sofa .I want my visitors to feel welcome and relaxed , but I do like people to take off their boots when they come in, leave muddy shoes on the rack by the back door, as we are down a muddy country lane. I have things we have found on the dresser such as fossils , drift wood ,rocks and sea shells,a jar of worn sea glass we find on the beach , bones, toy dinosaurs , as well as my nice china plates . In my kitchen dresser I don't have anything really glamorous , like on the cover of your magazine ..but rather I have lots of bits and bobs like Olivia said..gifts from friends and things the children made at school to give to me on Mother's Day etc.. those sorts of precious treasures :) x

ReplyDeleteYour dresser sounds wonderful. Covered with some things that tug on my heartstrings as well......just wonderful. Thanks for commenting Deb....God bless
ReplyDeleteMy decorating style is kind of cluttered for now, but it is things that I like. A lot of family passed-down furniture like my hump back trunk from the 1860's, and my husband's grandma's lamp table, hand made clocks from my Dad, various plates with flowers on them, Delftware on the walls in the dining room, a few of my own folk art paintings on the wall, crockery and dust. I seem to collect that faster than I can dust it away. Plus we seem to collect dog toys, too. I've got to get some of this stuff straightened up before my knee surgery because the Physical Therapist will be coming into the house to work with me then. I'm not too bothered by clutter, but get embarrassed for other people to come into my house and see it!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, your house sounds warm and lived in. Much like mine....dog toys are a constant thing in my floor. I need knee surgery as well, but I have to lose much weight before I can have it. Boo Hoo the story of my life...smile. I pray all goes well with your surgery hun....God bless
