Day Trip

While on a day trip recently with my youngest daughter Kathy and three of my grandchildren, we stopped to visit a fairly new to our part of the state SUPER LARGE service station/ gift shop/ restaurant.  The name is "Bucee's (Buck ee's) . It was fun seeing all their "Pretties",but we came away with only some snacks for the trip back home.  The prices were way out of my range and honestly I didn't need anything.  I still have to many pretties in my possession...smile! I can't say I wasn't tempted though.

I thought these Birdhouses were beautiful.

Twas a very nice "Day Trip"

  1. I love Buccee's! You are right, their merchandise is pricey, but I still love to go and browse around. One opened in Baytown not long ago, that's very close to me!

  2. MAN-MADE CREEDS? BY STEVE FINNELL

Which of the following man-made creeds did the first century church use as their authority for faith and practice?

    1. Catechism of the Catholic Church.

    2. The Nicene Creed.

    3. The Westminster Confession of Faith.

    4. The Heidel Catechism.

    5. Methodist 25 Articles of Faith.

    6. Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith.

    7. The Augsburg Confession of Faith.

    8. Spurgeon's Catechism.

The answer is the first century church did not use man-made creeds as their authority for faith and practice. They use Scripture and Scripture alone.

Acts 2:42And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine....(NKJV)

The apostles doctrine was Scripture. The words and writings of the apostles were Scripture.

2 Peter 3:15-16 ...as also our brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them these things, to which are some things hard to understand, which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. (NKJV)

The apostles Paul's writings were Scriptures, they were not man-made creeds.

The first century church did not use man-made creed books as their guide for faith and practice.

Jesus condemned the man-made creeds of the scribes and Pharisees. Mark 7:5-9.......9 And He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandments of God that you may keep your tradition.(NKJV)

If man-made creeds include things not in the Bible, they are traditions of men. If the creeds of men are contrary to the Bible they are false creeds. On Judgment Day men will be judged according to God's written word. The Bible and the Bible alone.

Man-made creeds are written to change the meaning of Scripture to fit denominational doctrines.

The question remains can man-made creeds save anyone?

  3. It looks like you had a great time. Jaxon is growing so fast. I don't think we have any of those stores around here yet. I liked the birdhouses, too.

  4. What a fun day! Jaxon is so cute! If I had had a son he would probably look like Jaxon. I've never heard of this store but I would have fun looking. Don't think I would buy anything. Looks too expensive!

  5. I visited my son and his family in Temple, TX last October...we stopped at Bucee's then. You're so right...they're a bit pricey. But I bought some Bluebonnet scented soaps for some friends that was a good deal.
Hope you enjoyed a fun day!
